- Discover who you are:
- What do you love?
- What do you hate?
- What are your strengths?
- What are your weaknesses?
- What are your gifts?
- Identify what you really want in life:
- What things do you want in your life?
- What are the qualities or characteristics for you of a successful life?
- What does your life look like in the future?
- What are your life values that transcend time?
- What would you die for?
- How do those answers that are “you,” translate into the market place?
Understand, “There are no wrong answers for your business, only wrong answers for your life.” You can have companies with similar value propositions that are all very successful and look completely different.
When faced with decisions and armed with the knowledge of who you are and what you want, you know what to say “yes” to and what needs a “no.” People don’t buy you because you are the “same,” They buy you because you are different. Maybe they choose you because you are reasonably priced, or because you are the most expensive option, or the only one that delivers on the weekend, or your product comes in green. Regardless, everyone is not your prospect and you can’t make everyone happy.
So focus on your value, what makes you special and at being really good at being you. Because for the best you, there is a significant value. And in that value the truth is there will be a group of prospects that can become raving fans if you are bold enough to go there.
